This is a mentorship position designed to serve both an immediate objective of providing support to engineering staff and a long-term objective of internally developing exceptional engineering talent.   PROJECT EXPOSURE (may include but are not limited to) - Basic drafting skills and techniques. - Working with and supporting engineers or higher level technicians in the development and maintenance of project documentation from design to construction. - Performing a variety of routine tasks designed to provide hands-on experience with engineering methods and practices to include engineering calculations, quantities take-offs, cost estimating, CAD, and project specification review and development. - Task assignments are selected to provide educational challenge, professional growth, and completion of ongoing project deliverables and milestones. As part of a design team, the Land Development Designer will be responsible for the preparation of construction drawings for projects, including but not limited to site plans, grading and drainage plans, roadway alignment, plan and profiles, cross sections, earthwork calculations, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection systems, storm sewer design, intersection layouts and utilization of applicable standard details based on municipality. Duties also include preparation of project specifications and assembling permit submittals (Water Management, FDEP, City, County, and State).   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (may include but are not limited to): - Support the engineering team with CAD knowledge. - Develop CAD drawings for assigned department. - Create plans independently and under direction from senior staff. - Technical development of contract plans and marketing exhibits. - Maintain project drawing files. - Create maps, graphs, charts, overlays, base drawings, details and sketches. - Complete red line mark-ups and address design comments related to the site layout and details. - Organize and prepare a variety of complex layouts and drawings from written or verbal specifications or from rough or detailed sketches. - Follow CAD standards for the project established by the client, firm, and industry. - Recommend standards and symbols to meet specialized needs of a particular project, or to facilitate or improve CAD productivity. - Maintain current knowledge of design and drafting procedures in specialty field. - Use basic quantity and geometry calculations in creation of drawings. - Perform mathematical calculations and quantity takeoffs. - Nights and weekends are generally not required but may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice. As part of a design team, the primary responsibilities of the Engineer, Airports are small and large airport infrastructure planning and design, stormwater design and permitting, pavement evaluations, airfield pavement designs, site and facilities design, commercial and airport site development layouts, utility system design, and related services. This individual’s primary responsibility will be to support project managers throughout the lifecycle of aviation-related analyses. The Project Analyst will be responsible for compiling project data and statistics to provide expert guidance and advice on the probability of success. The Project Analyst will be responsible for multiple projects, assisting in project schedules, collaboration with project teams, and making sure that projects align with company strategy and goals. The qualified candidate must have strong writing, speaking, and analytical skills.   ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (may include but are not limited to): - Attend general aviation airport board meetings and provide administrative support as needed. - Coordinate meetings, including scheduling and agenda preparation. Ensuring project teams are well informed. - Manage Airport Joint Automated Capital Improvement Program (JACIP) documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulations. - Prepare monthly invoice backup documentation in accordance with Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) requirements. - Generate front-end documents for airport projects, including bid packages, requests for proposals and other necessary paperwork. - Perform risk management to minimize project risks. - Document all project stages and ensure that all team members understand the project objectives. - Responsible for drafting, compiling, and submitting grant applications to secure funding for airport projects and initiatives. - Coordinates technical and administrative activities with other internal departments and disciplines participating in the project. - Analyze and evaluate project data and metrics to track and report project progress and issues in-progress. - Nights and weekends are generally not required but may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice. The Electrical Engineering Project Manager with the Airfield Lighting team manages the full scope of work from preparation of proposal through construction.
