Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer shall have diverse experience with power distribution, lighting, low voltage (power limited) systems and telecommunications design. The candidate shall be effective in planning, design and coordination of electrical systems with team members and clients to ensure project expectations are met. Low voltage experience shall include security and access control, CCTV, telecommunications with wireless access, high speed data access, voice/data/video, and familiarity with structured cabling standards.  The candidate shall have experience with supervising and leading a group of employees. 

 

  ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (may include but are not limited to):

  • Independently evaluate, select and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria on moderately complex
  • Review plans and prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and
  • Assist in the resolution of design problems that may include field investigation or inspections, detailed design work, and detailed checking of design computations done by
  • Build a strong network of new and existing clients and manage client relationships and client satisfaction.
  • Participate in developing and expanding the team through strategic planning and the development and implementation of the firm’s overall business and marketing strategies.
  • Draft cost estimates, periodic reports covering construction activities, pay estimates, and data necessary to document acceptability of materials and quantities for final payment.
  • Make design recommendations, adaptations, and modificiations based on actual field conditions.
  • Assist in the development of technical information to support marketing efforts.
  • Act as a technical resource for Airport and/or MEP team requests/efforts related to designing low voltage systems support infrastructure.
  • Assist in the development of low voltage design templates, standards, and guidelines to improve department accuracy and efficiency.
  • Evaluate contractor’s job performance and compliance with construction documents.
  • Coordinate service provider and/or client utility infrastructure requirements into low voltage designs.
  • Obtain and review documentation to coordinate/integrate low voltage systems.
  • Plan and design low voltage systems including system layout, wiring diagrams, equipment selection and interface, and fiber optic/cabling transitions.
  • Lead QA/QC efforts for department.
  • Mentor and supervise production efforts of junior staff. Provide feedback to Team Manager regarding status of department workload.
  • Nights and weekends are generally not required but may occasionally be necessary with little or no advanced notice.

  ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 10+ years of experience.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • RCDD and Infocomm CTS, desirable.
  • Proficiency in Revit,
  • Knowledge of related building codes and related industry
  • Low voltage systems experience in fire alarm security, access, video, CCTV, communications,
  • Experience in airport, desirable.
  • Proficiency with MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS

  REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, ABILITY, AND SKILLS

  • Familiarity with TIA/EIA Industry standards.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex design problems.
  • Excellent communication skills with a team-orientated attitude.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and clients.
  • Ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentially and protect privileged client information and documents appropriately.
  • Knowledge of correct English usage including spelling, grammar, punctuation, and vocabulary.

  LICENSURE

  • Valid drivers’ license and maintenance of satisfactory driving record.
  • Florida Professional Engineer Must also be able to obtain Professional Engineer licensure within other jurisdictions in which the company operates.

  SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervisory skills are preferred.

 

TELECOMMUTING

Due to the collaborative nature of this position and accessibility for in-house client meetings, it is important that this position physically work in the office.

 

ENVIRONMENT

Work usually takes place in a clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting. Site visits may occasionally take place in an outdoor environment. Site visits may occur in an area of high voltage where extra caution, attention and adherence to additional guidelines may be required.   

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit for long periods of time. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to ten (10) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. 

 

TOOL/PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS

As dictated by client site protocol, candidaet will be required to utilize proper personal protective equipment including but not limited to gloves, sleeves, leather protectors, hard hats, safety vests, safety glasses and shields, hearing protections, safety shoes, covers, helmets/hoods, and any additional tools required for the task at hand.
